These ladies played an important
supporting role, as indicated at that time by Reverend Father Dosithé
Robichaud. Initially, membership fees were set at one dollar and two years
later, in 1943, the group had 42 active members. Almost 30 years later, the
Chaleur Regional Hospital opened its doors and at the same time, a gift
boutique was opened, managed and operated by the Auxiliaries. This boutique
quickly became the main source of funding for the Auxiliaries, but
unfortunately closed last year due to a decrease in traffic as a result of the
pandemic.

«The Chaleur
Regional Hospital Auxiliary is an organization that is very close to our
hearts, but sometimes we have to face the fact that we have to question
ourselves and make decisions that are not always easy. Our group has played an
important role, but it is now time for us to step aside. That being said, we
are so proud of the accomplishments that have been made possible through the
commitment of our members and we are confident that the Foundation will take
over to ensure that our common goal continues to be achieved; that is, the
improvement of health care and services at our hospital through patient comfort
and support for our health care professionals. », explained Edith Tribe,
President of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Auxiliary Programs and Patricia
Legacy, President of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
