Bathurst, October 27, 2025 — Throughout the month of October, residents of the region came together around a cause that touches us all in one way or another: the fight against cancer. Thanks to the generosity and commitment of participants, donors, and businesses, the “Walk 1 km in my Shoes” initiative raised a total of $63 647 for the Roses Radiothon.
Organized by the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation in Bathurst, the Fondation Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus Inc, and the Fondation Les Amis de l’Hôpital de Tracadie, this symbolic activity invites people to walk one kilometer in the shoes of someone who is fighting or has fought cancer.
Under the honorary presidency of Mr. Ronald Losier, a well-known entrepreneur personally affected by the illness, the 2025 edition was a great success:
• Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation (Bathurst): $22,950
• Fondation Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus Inc. (Caraquet): $14,452
• Fondation Les Amis de l’Hôpital de Tracadie : $26,245
“Walking in the shoes of someone living with cancer is a reminder that for them, every step is a victory. It’s a privilege to see our community come together to show them support and remind them that they are not alone,” said Mr. Ronald Losier, Honorary Chair of the campaign.
The funds raised will support the purchase of advanced technology medical equipment to improve the detection, treatment, and comfort of cancer patients across the Acadie-Bathurst region. These investments will directly enhance the quality and accessibility of care within our communities.
The foundations extend their heartfelt thanks to all participants, donors, volunteers, and partners who contributed to the success of this meaningful edition. Thanks to your support, we continue to strengthen
healthcare services in our region. Your unwavering commitment demonstrates the importance of a united
community working toward a shared goal: providing the best care, right here at home.
