Together for a healthy future

Community of Chaleur region exceeds 2025 campaign targets and is already gearing up for 2026

Bathurst, February 5, 2026 – The solidarity and generosity of the people of the Chaleur region continue to make a tangible contribution to improving health care. The Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation announced today that its 2025 Annual Campaign reached—and surpassed by $432,389—its $400,000 goal, thanks to the remarkable support of the public, businesses and volunteers.

These funds will be used to improve several priority areas of the hospital, including the surgical suite, laboratory, long-term care and physiotherapy, making it possible to provide ever more effective and compassionate care to the community.

“This extraordinary success is a testament to the incredible generosity of our community and the dedication of everyone who contributed to this campaign. Together, we have achieved something remarkable,” said Hollis Chamberlain, Chair of the 2025 Annual Campaign.” These funds will contribute directly to improving the care and services provided to our patients.”

Significant, meaningful achievements

The benefits of this campaign will soon be felt on the ground:

  • In the surgical suite, new equipment will enable greater precision and faster recovery for patients;
  • In the laboratory, diagnostic times will be reduced;
  • In the long-term care unit, stimulating therapeutic activities will help maintain patients’ physical, cognitive and psychological capacities;
  • In physiotherapy, more precise tests will facilitate the development of personalized therapeutic plans.

Raymond Lanteigne agreed to share his experience as a patient:

“In 2025, I spent 85 consecutive days in the hospital in Bathurst. I underwent three surgical procedures there and experienced several episodes related to my medical condition. My life was in danger several times. Today, I have resumed my daily walks and am preparing to return to the Camino de Santiago for the eighth time. I consider myself lucky to have received care in a modern facility, with a competent team. I greatly appreciated their professionalism, expertise and bedside manner,” says Mr. Lanteigne.

Essential support for Vitalité Health Network

“I would like to sincerely thank all our donors for their generosity. Through their dedication and commitment to their communities, those involved in fundraising move mountains and also play a crucial role in the continuous improvement of care. Our patients owe you a debt of gratitude,” said Dr. Natalie Banville, Vice-President of Medical Affairs at Vitalité Health Network, underscoring the importance of this philanthropic support for the quality of care provided at the Chaleur Regional Hospital.

Setting the course for 2026: an ambitious new goal

Building on this success, the Foundation took the opportunity to launch its 2026 Annual Campaign, with an equally ambitious goal of $400,000. This new initiative will aim to meet essential health needs and support the remarkable work of the region’s professionals. Donations will be used to improve surgical suite services, ambulatory care and the mother-child program.

“Together, we have the power to transform lives, here at home first. One day, it may be a relative, friend or colleague who will benefit from this support,” said Jean-Guy Robichaud, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation. “We are confident that our community will once again rise to this challenge to improve the care provided at our hospital.”
