Bathurst, January 6, 2025 – Following its annual general meeting, the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation presented a positive report, underscored by tangible progress and outstanding community engagement. Donations, the commitment of volunteers and the support of partners have enabled us to improve and modernize health care services right here at home first.
Message from the Chair, Jean-Guy Robichaud
“I’m proud of how far we’ve come this year. Investments in several key areas (dialysis, oncology, cardiac rehabilitation, surgical suite, intensive care, mother-child program, laboratory and medical imaging) demonstrate our determination to provide the best care. These successes are the result of everyone’s generosity and commitment.”
An annual campaign beyond expectations
The 2023 campaign, which set an ambitious target of $350,000, exceeded all expectations, reaching a total of $383,026. This sum will be used to purchase equipment and services that meet the region’s current and future needs.
Mobilizing community events
Several initiatives illustrated the strength of local solidarity. As part of the annual campaign, the Northern Star raised $29,248, while the Roses Radiothon, which had an initial target of $100,000, raised $159,188. In addition, the charity golf tournament brought together enthusiasts and philanthropists and made a significant contribution to our overall goal. Together, these events supported the fight against cancer, strengthened health care and demonstrated everyone’s determination to support our regional hospital.
The Healthy Trail: A new space dedicated to well-being
This year saw the inauguration of the Healthy Trail, a new space dedicated to well-being and the promotion of an active lifestyle. Accessible to all, it provides a safe and pleasant environment for physical activity, promoting overall health. This project, made possible thanks to the support of the UCT Bingo Club and Medavie, symbolizes our commitment to prevention and the well-being of our community outside the hospital walls.
Inspiring planned giving : the “Hayden and Mildred Hatheway Endowment Fund”
Mr. Hayden Hatheway’s gift in action has led to the creation of an endowment fund to guarantee lasting support for the Chaleur Regional Hospital. This exemplary gesture in support of local health will, we hope, inspire other long-term contributions.
Investing in people and quality of care
The funds raised have also supported staff training, ensuring more efficient, patient-centred
care.
Tangible benefits for the community

professionals. Here is a breakdown of the investments made this year:
– $249,238 (47%): Patient care

– $43,147 (8%): Training and other initiatives
