An exceptional year for the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation: over $430,000 raised to improve health care in the region

Bathurst, December 18, 2025 – The Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation held its Annual General Meeting on December 9, 2025, in Bathurst, highlighting a remarkable 2024-2025, marked by the solidarity, generosity and unwavering commitment of the Chaleur region community.

In his message, Jean-Guy Robichaud, Chair of the Board of Directors, underlined the essential contribution of volunteers, donors and partners:

“The 2024-2025 year was filled with remarkable achievements for the Foundation. Our community, volunteers and donors have once again demonstrated exceptional generosity and commitment, helping to improve access to quality care for the entire Chaleur region. I would like to express my deep gratitude to our volunteers – their energy and dedication are essential to our mission.”

Annual campaign a resounding success

The 2024-2025 annual campaign raised $431,696, far surpassing the initial goal of $375,000. Chaired by Hollis Chamberlain, this campaign has had a tangible impact in several priority areas, notably the fight against cancer and the mother-child sector, thus helping to improve the quality of care offered at the hospital.

“This extraordinary success reflects the incredible generosity of our community. Together, we’ve achieved something remarkable,”said Mr. Chamberlain.

Planned giving for a brighter future

The Foundation also highlighted the inspiring philanthropic gesture of Isabel MacLaggan, who made a generous planned gift to establish the Jim and Isabel MacLaggan Endowment Fund, ensuring lasting support for the Foundation’s mission. This fund pays tribute to two community builders deeply committed to the Bathurst community.

Successful events bringing people together

Throughout the year, several fundraising activities contributed to our collective success:

  • Roses Radiothon – Chaleur region: $159,088 raised under Chair Alice Hébert, and the support of the Walk 1 km in My Shoes event led by Jeff Long
  • Northern Star – Chaleur region: $36,717 raised under Chair Dr. Marilyne Bossé
  • 22nd Charity Golf Classic: $62,646.90 raised under Chair Dr. Marc-André Doucet, bringing the tournament’s cumulative total to over one million dollars since its creation

Community generosity brings tangible benefits

In total, the donations collected made it possible to invest in several key areas:

  • $281,404 (53%) for sectors related to patient care
  • $123,160 (23%) for diagnostics, treatment and follow-up
  • $76,285 (14%) for employee wellness
  • $51,311 (10%) for training and other priority projects

A community united for health

The Foundation would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all its volunteers, donors, sponsors and partners for their ongoing loyalty and support.

“It is thanks to this community action that we can continue to invest in cutting-edge medical equipment and support our health care professionals here in our region,” concluded Mr. Robichaud.
